- Wendy notices that the old symptoms from Jack's drinking days have all resurfaced. What symptoms is Jack showing? There is no alcohol at the Overlook, so what do you think is going on?
- In Part 3 of the book, characters begin to lose time. They realize an hour has passed or forget how they arrived at a certain place. Where have we seen this happen in the story and what do you think is the reason? Is this important?
- Jack found an old scrapbook in the boiler room that was filled with details about the darker side of the Overlook's history. Did any of the stories stand out to you? What would you have done if you had found the scrapbook?
- Dr. Edmonds acts as if nothing is wrong with Danny. Why do you think children are taken less seriously than adults? How do you think the story would be different if people did not continue to ignore Danny's abilities?

- Chapter 25 - Inside 217: Danny's encounter in Room 217 is arguably the most frightening scene in the book. It is not included in the film at all. We only see the aftermath of the encounter--the bruise on Danny's neck. How do you think this choice impacted the film?
